Gauteng is the powerhouse province of South Africa! This is where gold was discoved, and it is the industrial and commercial hub of the country. It is the smallest, but also the wealthiest province in South Africa, with loads of entertainment.


The Cradle of Humankind offers many activities, a chance to visit the new Lion Park, go up the cable car at Hartebeespoort Dam and much more!


Pretoria is South Africa’s administrative centre and offers historical sights such as the Union Buildings, Voortrekker Monument, Church Square, Melrose House, Kruger Museum and Freedom Park. Cullinan is nearby, a small town with a wealth of diamond history.


How much time do you need?


JOHANNESBURG - Gold Reef City, numerous markets, Soweto, theatres and restaurants provide a constant source of distraction. Take a day to do a Soweto Tour after arriving in South Africa at O R Tambo International Airport!


CRADLE OF HUMANKIND, MAGALIESBURG AND HARTEBEESPOORT DAM - if you  are going to do Hot Air Ballooning in South Africa, this is the place to do it - over the game reserve in the Cradle of Humankind! There is loads to do and explore in this region - why not take a day or two to explore?


PRETORIA -  the Jacaranda City is lovely and has a long, involved and fascinating history, and here you will find significant old buildings and fascinating museums. Well worth spending a day tourimg through this city especially if you have time before your return flight home!
